About
Hi there. I’m Laurie MacPherson, a technical content strategist and writer focused on cybersecurity, data governance, and cloud infrastructure.
I bring a journalist’s research habits, a decade-plus of B2B technology marketing experience, and a growing body of hands-on cybersecurity study to the work.
These days, most of my projects involve helping tech marketing teams create credible, useful content for security and data leader audiences.
How I Got Here
My journey into cybersecurity and data has been, like many people’s, roundabout.
I started in journalism, where the job was to ask good questions, find the “story within the story,” source responsibly, and write clearly. From there, I moved into B2B technology marketing, where I began partnering with PMM teams, interviewing SMEs, and writing content for technical decision-makers.
Over time, security became part of nearly everything I was writing about. Identity and access, auditability, and risk exposure kept showing up underneath seemingly disparate topics, from health tech to AI systems.
That (and, I’ll be honest, discovering Mr. Robot) is what pulled me deeper into cybersecurity and data.
Alongside client work, I’m building my expertise through cybersecurity coursework and certifications, hands-on labs, and my security blog, Path & Payload.
